Hi there! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read this. Here is a little about me. I have been an entrepreneur ever since I can remember. At the age of 7 I can remember pulling a little wagon from door to door, selling drawings and designs I had made with my Spirograph (remember those). With the exception of a few VERY generous folks, I had little sells. This taught me the first rule of business, which is "To offer products people actually want or need." My next business was based on one of my favorite things, CANDY! At 10 years old I asked my Mom for seed money to start my Candy store. She decided to invest $25 and took me to Sam's Club to buy candy in bulk. I made a big banner, hung it on our garage and word spread quickly throughout the neighborhood. The items I had purchased sold out quickly. I repaid Mom and used the profit to buy more. Eventually the store grew to carry more products like popsicles, ice cream, and gum. Over the summer I turned that $25 investment to $400. This taught me so much about the financial side of owning a business. Over the years I tried a few more silly side ventures and multi-level marketing businesses, and finally gave it all up to be Mom to the 3 stellar humans pictured above. But as always I found myself daydreaming of business ideas and inventions, of being financially independent. As I watched my husband hop from one unsatisfying job to another, unfulfilled, over worked, and under appreciated, we both started talking about the pros of being self-employed. Then in 2012 after learning of the deaths of several childhood friends, I decided dreams can not wait, neither can saving for my kids college tuition. So I took the leap of faith and started The Owl Boutique. I ordered inventory on a credit card...scary. My husband was nervous as he watched the basement fill up with boxes of shoes and clothes. My first proposal to Jane.com was rejected. But I worked hard and within a month the basement was nearly empty. Going forward we are hoping to do some re-branding. We hope to solve quality issues by taking manufacturing into our own hands. We hope this will also solve sizing inconsistencies and availability. We feel we have a good idea what our customers want and need because we are just like you. Lots of exciting things are ahead. We hope you'll keep following us as we grow. I am a huge champion of the American Dream and my dream is that my husband will eventually be able to do what he loves, that my kids will also learn the skills of owning and operating a business, that we will be financially prepared to survive whatever life throws at us, and have the freedom to share what we have with others less fortunate along the way. I am inspired daily by the beautiful and talented women that surround me. Our models and photographer are also Moms who are juggling not just their dreams and responsibilities, but their children's as well! These women are heros to me. Thank you!
